Hi! We’re Dave and Jeannie, the folks behind This Road, Our Way — and the part-time RV Lifestyle we’re heading toward: David and Jeannie, Wyatt and Mollie. (And our son, Connor, who you likely won’t see much of but we still claim him 😉 — he’s off to college soon and too cool for this RV stuff. )
But we’re excited to add these new adventures to our lives— and to share them with you.
Why the RV Lifestyle?
Out of desperation during the pandemic for new scenery and a plan to move across the country, we booked our first RV trip from California to North Carolina.
We (Dave and Jeannie, not Connor) realized that we really enjoyed the travel. The driving. The company. The country.
And while we plan for our next steps when our kid goes off to college (can you say empty nest???), getting back on the road — on our terms, our way — really hit home as the next adventure we wanted.
Our first road trip was from California to Carolina — where we ended up moving to in 2021. And we love our home. We’re not looking to give it up. In fact, the place we ended up with, with a yard that makes us feel like we’re on vacation is part of what inspired this decision.
We definitely follow and watch the Full timer RVers, but that’s not how we’re hitting the road. We’re keeping our home base, our home, and planning to travel and visit when we want and where we want. We are both very strong planners, so we’ll know our trips well in advance.
In fact, we’re likely a year or so away from getting our actual RV — right now, we’re in deep research and figuring out mode. What do we want? What do we need? We thought we’d document our progress and journey and hope someone else finds it enjoyable.
Who are we?
Jeannie is a marketing executive with over 20 years in the business who spends most of her day on the computer and Zoom calls. Dave is a retired landscaper who spent over 30 years designing yards and grounds, managing and supervising staff, and making things look really pretty. (This works out really well because Jeannie has a 100% black thumb and the world of marketing is a mystery to Dave.)
